How To Create A Free PHP Proxy Site

If you read my previous tutorial on how to create your personal CGI proxy, you might want to have a PHP proxy too, so I decided to post this tutorial on how to create a free and reliable PHP proxy server. Free proxy servers are all over the internet but they are generally unreliable, so getting your own free PHP proxy server isn't such a bad idea especially if you have been restricted from visiting certain sites.

With your own PHP proxy, you can unblock sites blocked by your school, employer, ISP or government. It's easier bypassing internet restrictions and firewall with your own proxy site and there is also the added advantage of securing your internet privacy. Nobody gets to know what you're up to online as you will always appear to be only visiting that proxy site.
Are you restricted from facebook, myspace, youtube and the rest of those sites you love to visit? Or are you just concerned about your online privacy? Then follow this guide and your proxy site will be up and running within one hour.

The following is required:

1. A hosting account: This can be a free or paid hosting account.
i. This hosting account must have PHP Compiler. This produces optimized stand alone applications, libraries, and Web applications from standard PHP source code. Almost all free web hosts has this so I don't think it's gonna be a problem. PHP scripts runs on almost all free web hosts

ii. The hosting account too must have safe mode turned off in it's php.ini configuration file.

safe_mode = Off
allow_url_fopen = On

This allows your web proxy server to connect to other servers since this is exactly what you want it for. You can check out these free hosts or run a google search.

2. A domain name or sub-domain: Some free hosts offer a sub-domain along with every free hosting account while some expect you to already have a domain name.

You can get a totally free domain name for your proxy server from these sites:

3. The PHP proxy script: You can download the latest PHProxy version from the link below:



Now I believe you have a free hosting account with a domain name, right? It's almost complete...unzip the contents in the file you downloaded earlier.
Now login to your hosting cpanel and upload to your domain root (www folder) or create a folder in your domain root.

-javascript.js
-PHProxy.class.php

That's all you have to do and your free PHP proxy server is set up. Launch the address in which you upload the files and your PHP proxy server site loads. Enter your destination url in the box and you're good to go. Any problem? Leave a comment!

India Web Proxy v1.0 - All About it

India Web Proxy is a light weight, java based proxy tunnelling software that relies on an external php proxy script to function. Before proceeding, I have to commend Objac, a friend and member in our mobile site who actually made this software known to me and most, if not all Nigerians


It's an open source java program that effectively bypasses firewall and internet censorship. It relies on a php proxy script for functionality and has a simple and flexible configuration.

Before using it though, you must have uploaded the required php script or have one that is still functioning...there's a lot on google too if you can run a filtered search.

Creating Your India Web Proxy Server
The PHP proxy script you need to upload to your webhost is located in the zip file. Upload all three files in the PHP (Server module) folder to your domain web root. There are lots of free hosts to use and I'll list just a few of them

I have to emphasize though that it's against some webhosts' TOS to use their server for proxy related service and some do not allow conneting to other servers via their server.

I've used the first two free webhosts and they are quite okay.

Now, some hosts require you to have an already registered domain name somewhere else and you'll need to do change some DNS record before you can make that work.
For starters,make sure the host you're choosing also offers you a free sub-domain like http://your-name.domain.com
If the host you choose requires a domain name, Dot.tk offers you a free domain name at no cost with a customizable DNS record.


I believe now you have already registered wit a free host, right? Now, check the welcome email you got from your webhost including your account details.
You should see your ftp server, username and password.

If not, navigate around your cpanel, it should be hooked up somewhere.

Now you've got the details, you need a ftp client software to upload your script...some hosts offer you a web based ftp interface but most do not.

Ftp clients softwares to upload stuffs to your server include SmartFTP, Filezilla etc. But i'm not gonna take your through d trouble of downloadin anything, there's an easy way out.
The easy way out is using an online ftp client...a site actually from where you can access your site and install your script easily.

If you can upload via the file manger in your cpanel, click on it, otherwise you'll have to use ftplive.com with your ftp details (we discused that earlier)

Simply upload your script php script to your domain root or locate the www folder

I recently included some fixed scripts in the zipped folder with which you can create your IndiaWebProxy personal server on your free or paid host.

Configuring India Web Proxy
1. Locate and open IndiaWebProxy.jar (with java runtime 1.5 or higher)
2. Click on settings
3. You only need to configure 4 or 5 parameters
i. PHP Web server ip (or host) - I used my isp homepage for this(www.mtnonline.com).
ii. PHP Web server port - 80 or 8080 is okay
iii. PHP file url - the proxy script you uploaded earlier
iv. Oganization ip and port - if you connect via proxy (010.199.212.002 port 8080 for my ISP).





Save your settings and click on start and you're just a step away...

Now go to your browser settings and key in localhost:6050 and localhost:6051 for http and https connections respectively.

- for proxy list auto search and update (to search proxy list on a regular basis) you can use 'Update proxy list' scheduler
