Using Custom Links In Facebook Status Updates And Wall Posts
The first time I saw a status update with a link underneath a custom text, I thought facebook was already supporting HTML in statusupdates and wall posts. I tried writing some stuff in basic HTML but was rendered as plain text and realized it's all some sort of trick after all. Of course we all know you can tag people and mention pages in your status update or comment by typing @ before writing the name but it all gets even better if you can mask/hide that fan page or profile name with some sort of custom text. You can even write a whole status update or comment linking directly to your profile or facebook fan page. I bet you want to learn how, right?
Before you can do this, you have to first know your profile ID or that of the person or page you're tagging.
How To Get The Profile ID Of A Facebook User Or Fan Page
For users who do not already have a facebook username, you can get the profile ID by just going to the profile, checking your address bar and copying out the last set numbers in the URL. For example, the ID for this profile is shown in red:
www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1234567890000
For users or pages with facebook usernames or vanity url such as http://www.facebook.com.com/username, enter http://graph.facebook.com/username in your browser.
Be sure to replace username with your own valid username, for example, http://graph.facebook.com/doncaprio . The page that displays should show you your profile ID.

Linking Your Updates To Facebook Profiles Or Fan Page With Custom Text
The trick is just a simple piece of code and you can create a really funny update with it. It's as simple as the code written below:
Profile ID - 165091976865893
Display Text - YOUR TEXT HERE
That's all you're gonna be needing. Be sure to replace profile ID and custom text with what you want to be displayed in place of the profile or fan page.
My last status update on facebook was written as this:
It appeared exactly as shown below:
It's a really funny update and you can copy that into your status update, just be sure to edit the profile IDs and text that will be shown instead of the link. These days, you're sometimes asked to provide your facebook user ID when filling some forms online and some of us don't even have a clue what this is. You might even need the profile ID of a page for certain reasons and this can be a real challenge especially if the profile in question already has a username. Since most facebook profiles now have vanity URLs, you can't get the profile ID just looking at the address bar, all you're gonna see is the username. So how do you get such profile ID for profiles with custom address?

How To Run Android Apps On Windows PC
If you love Android apps so much to the point you feel like running them on your personal computer, then Bluestacks app player is what you're probably looking for. The possibility of running Android applications has always been an exciting but the first method I found might look a bit hard especially if you're not a techie. With Bluestacks, running your favourite Android applications on Windows OS is easy as running the apps on your Android smartphone though some of the fun of running touch screen apps is lost while using a mouse and keyboard combo. Apps like Pulse still feels definitely useful considering the odds.
With Android itself being a semi-open platform for developers to turn to an interesting playground, running Android applications with an emulator on PC is quite a laudable effort to broaden users experience. Though Bluestack is still in the alpha stage and not yet perfected at the moment, it still does exactly what it's meant to do for you.
The download can be quite heavy if you're on a slow internet connection (current version is about 117MB) but it comes pre-installed with 10 Android applications. You can add 16 more apps and it's likely there's going to be a pro version which might be a paid software.
It runs smoothly on 32-bit (X86) operating system and it's strictly for Windows and I guess support for Mac OS is surely in progress. In order to make it easier for you to install more android applications on your PC, Bluestacks also developed an Android app for your mobile device called Cloud Connect which allows you to sync applications from your mobile device to the Bluestacks installation on your PC wirelessly.
As mentioned earlier, this Windows "Android emulator" is in alpha stage and there has been reports of forced closes and some applications won't sync. Another complaint is that Cloud Connect uses facebook for authorization which doesn't seem necessary and we hope all this will be fixed soonest. Signing In To Two Gmail Accounts At The Same Time
With the countless number of free google services around, you might be forced to have more than just one google account. You might even have two gmail accounts for different purposes. I, for example, have a normal google account for this blog plus a couple of other google services I regularly use and another google apps account on which my business email is hosted. Sometimes I need to sign in to both accounts but switching between accounts will make one log out and log in countless times. Also, using different browsers to access your different google accounts isn't the perfect solution. Did you know it's possible to use to google account (or gmail accounts) at the same time on the same browser?
You do not need a browser add-on to get this done, just go to Google Account Multiple Sessions settings page. From this page you can turn on the settings that enable you to use two google accounts on the same browser at the same time.
You have to agree to some times before you're allowed to use this multiple sign in feature.
After enabling multiple sign in for either of your accounts, you can switch between either of your google accounts by clicking on the arrow beside your email displayed at the top-right corner. It might be necessary to log out of your accounts for this change to take effect.
This doesn't work with browser cookies and the settings automatically follow you from computer to computer, making it easy to use two gmail accounts at once.

Locked Out By Google: Unusual Traffic From Your Computer Network?
I've been using dozens google's services for years but I got a really crazy error message last night while trying to visit my own blog. At first I thought it was some sort of accidental error that came up due to a minor failure on google's part but I kept trying to no avail. I tried visiting other sites hosted on blogspot but got the same error:
"Our systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network. Please try your request again later. Why did this happen?
This page appears when Google automatically detects requests coming from your computer network which appear to be in violation of the Terms of Service. The block will expire shortly after those requests stop.
This traffic may have been sent by malicious software, a browser plug-in, or a script that sends automated requests. If you share your network connection, ask your administrator for help — a different computer using the same IP address may be responsible. Learn more
Sometimes you may see this page if you are using advanced terms that robots are known to use, or sending requests very quickly.
IP address: 41.203.64.13
Time: 2011-10-25T12:13:27Z"
I went ahead to clear my browser cookies, cache, history and site preferences but nothing happened. I also tried using google chrome but got the same error. Talking about unusual traffic, I realized I had been pinging lots of my backlinks that same day and that might have been the cause of the problem but I'm not so sure. That wasn't the first time I've done that.
Another thing to note is that my ISP assigns the same IP address to lots of subscribers and someone on my network might be generating that unusual traffic which google thought was coming from my own computer. Anyway, I had to fix it and came up with three solutions.
1. Remove Newly Installed Softwares And Addons
If you recently installed any software, toolbar or browser add-on, you should uninstall this first. It might be the source of this unusual traffic activity. You can also run a scan for malwares and spywares but this wasn't applicable in my own case.
2. Renewing Your IP Address
This is the quickest fix but it might not work for you. If you're using a USB modem like I do, disconnect your modem for about 10 minutes or more and reconnect. You should have been assigned a new IP address by then but if you're using a LAN, disconnect your router unplugg your router also for ten minutes or so.
3. Hiding Your IP Address
In case you're in a hurry or your IP address doesn't get renewed fast enough, go to hidemyass.com, get a working IP and it's corresponding port. Open your browser settings and change your proxy settings from the one you got from hidemyass.com. This is the easiest fix to bypass this annoying error but if you don't have a clue on how to change your browser settings, just check this post. this is what I did that eventually got me going.
In my quest for an answer, I also found out this same error appears for some search queries and this fix works for that as well, so far that same error is what is displayed on your screen.
